Hello. This is my bio (Ill try to keep it brief): I am a teacher, who after over twenty year of successful teaching, I became the victim of administrative teacher abuse. My professional advancement as a teacher threatened my buildings administration. I was told that working for advanced degrees, professional workshop development and presentation, publication record, additional certifications, state level teaching awards, and my students winning over 400 awards for their work did not make me a better teacher. My principal made it a point to notify me in front of my union local president that he would never call be "Doctor," and that I had earned that degree for the sole purpose of rubbing everyone's nose in it. Needles to say I was disappointed. It had taken almost nine years to finish both my Masters and my Doctorate in education for the purpose of being a better teacher and someone who would be an asset to the school and to the district. I was the only teacher in the district with a doctorate, and that included the superintendent at that time. The word got out that if anyone else tries to expand their capabilities, this would happen to them. I was targeted. As the years went on, the harassment and intimidation intensified. Support was pulled and my classes degenerated into chaos. When the other teachers on the faculty began attacking me, I knew it was time to go. I took an early retirement. I was not ready to retire. I left with about ten more good years still ahead of me. I miss the job, I miss the kids, and I miss the friends I still had on the staff, most of whom have either been run off like me or have been cowed into compliance and mediocrity. Principals dont need to worry about tenure laws if they want to get rid for a teacher. All they have to do is pull their support and sit back and wait for their victim to resign. No paper trail, no violation of tenure law, no evidence of administrative incompetence. The general public and parents know very little about Administrative teacher abuse. It is more common that one might imagine. The toll it can take on individual lives and families is devastating. But the real victims are the children. They are the ones who ultimately suffer. Because building administrators dont go after the bad teachers. They go after the ones whom them feel may expose them for the frauds they really are. Most of these clowns have had the minimum classroom experience, and landed their leadership positions through questionable political connections, and not because of any particular academic expertise. Its time to expose the lie: The schools are in decline, not because of the teachers. It is because of incompetent, unqualified, fearful, insecure administrators.
